Tryout Details:

Swim Details

• Beach lifeguard swim test: 500 meters (550 yards) pool swim in under 10 minutes.

  • Suggested items: swim suit, swim goggles, swim cap, towel, water bottle.

• Pool lifeguard swim test: 300 yards pool swim, continuous, not timed.

  • Suggested items: swim suit, swim goggles, swim cap, towel, water bottle.

  Run Details

• Beach run test - 1 mile treadmill run in under 10 minutes:

  • Suggested items: running shoes, active wear, change of clothes.

• Pool run test - No run test is required for pool lifeguard employment.

Orientation Details:

• Informational meeting with an A.L.A Officer:

  • Orientation will be hosted in a group setting after the tryouts conclude to best utilize your time.
